“Art and Addiction†at Carroll Community College
My drawing “Cleaning Up Her Act” is on display at Carroll Community College as part of the show “Art and Addiction.” There is a great article about the show in the Advocate of Westminster and Finksburg that features my drawing. Big thanks to Maggie Ball and Margaret Dowell for pulling this together. And also Lisa Brotman for loaning me the drawing! The opening is this Sunday, and I’ll be heading out for that.

Photos – “The 13th Hour” at Last Rites Gallery – NYC
Here are a few photos from last weekends show at Last Rites Gallery. It was a great weekend all around, and I’m looking forward to showing up there again next year. You can see more on my Flickr page. Fred Harper posted a few as well, as did Chris Parks of Palehorse Design. There were lots of photos being snapped, so hopefully a few more will turn up.
Genevive and Paul were the most gracious hosts, as was Carrie Anne Baade. It was a busy weekend starting with a private preview Friday night. I met Carrie for the first time, as well as Michael Mararian and Fred Harper. After that we headed over to Vincent Castiglia’s after party at Duff’s in Williamsburg. We ended the night at Banksy’s show in the Village.
Here’s a group shot from Friday night. From left: Me, Martina Secundo, Genevive Zacconi, Paul Booth, Carrie Anne Baade, Fred Harper and Eli Livingston.
Saturday morning we headed to the East Village. Following brunch at Kate’s joint, we stopped by Sloan Fine Arts and saw Jud Bergeron’s show. By then it was time to head over to Chelsea for a “Surrealist’s Tea,” hosted by Carrie Ann Baade. It was the first chance I had to chat with Craig LaRotonda, Travis Louie, and several other amazing artists and creative folks.

Oranges and Sardines Magazine
The poetry and arts magazine Oranges and Sardines ran a nice spread about me and my work. You can see an online version here or buy a copy from Amazon. It’s a really great magazine, so I recommend subscribing of course. Here’s a preview of my pages – click for larger versions.
Paragliding in La Jolla
While in San Diego we visited the Torrey Pines Gliderport in La Jolla. The original plan was to watch David and 72-year-old Angie jump off cliffs, but we soon decided we needed to jump off as well. We signed the necessary waivers and in a few minutes we were strapped in and heading over a cliff. It was really an amazing experience. There are more photos on my Flickr page.
This is Mike taking off.
This is Denise gliding above us. She was one of the last riders for the day and got a great ride.
And this is me coming in for a landing. If you’re ever in the San Diego area, I’d recommend giving it a shot.
