Distinction Gallery Presents: “Project 57” – San Diego

I’m really happy to have had a piece in this fundraiser. Lots of big names also participated. The work is still online and on display at the gallery, though the silent auction is over. Lots of great work is still available.

Information about Lewy Body Dementia

Lewy body dementia (LBD) is a progressive brain disease and the second leading cause of degenerative dementia in the elderly. Lewy bodies are abnormal proteins deposits that disrupt the brain’s normal function. In the brain stem, the proteins deplete the neurotransmitter dopamine, causing Parkinsonian–like symptoms. In other parts of the brain including the cerebral cortex, acetylcholine is depleted, causing disruption of perception, thinking, and behavior.

LBD onset is typically between the ages of 50 and 85. The symptoms, medicine management, and duration of LBD vary greatly from person to person, but the average duration is 5 to 7 years. No definitive treatment or cure for Lewy body dementia has been discovered.

Tattoos – Highest Form of Flattery

Rome out in Seal Beach, CA, sent me these pics of his new tattoos he got recently featuring “Anger” from the Virtue Series, and “Mother Always Liked You Best.” These are the first tattoos of my work that I know of — very cool! Also note that he included the “pile” in this first one.

The Collector

I’m happy the collector is such a fan of my work…

From the WaPo Reliable Source column…

“It was a red wooden box. Inside: another manifesto, this one calling for support of local artists — and blasting D.C. galleries, collectors and critics who pay more attention to the international scene. It’s a complaint we’ve often heard from Artomatic denizens.

Also: five little handmade cards in the style of Monopoly’s “Community Chest” that single out some of The Collector’s local faves — painters Jeff Wilson and Scott Brooks, sculptor Aaron Quinn Brophy, Long View Gallery and Gallery Neptune.”

Duo show with Candace Keegan and Emily Greene Liddle at Aroma

Opening reception is Thursday, June 5th 7-10pm

This will be a great show so c’mon out. My good friends Candy and Emily were part of Art in Heat from last summer, as well as Artomatic and Art Whino. Aroma is a cool little place as well. See you there!
