Furries in Middleburg

Mike and I drove out to Middleburg, Virginia, on Saturday for the annual Christmas in Middleburg festival. Peter and Tom have lived out there the last few years, and we finally got a chance to get out that way. It was a beautiful sunny day and though it was cold in the morning it warmed up nicely.

Frederick, Keith, and several others were there as well, and we all caught the opening parade at 11. Riders dressed in their finest fox hunting gear, along with the dogs, kicked off the day. No foxes were present until the afternoon parade. Middleburg is a surprisingly small but very classic small town, and they were done up right for the holidays.

The afternoon parade kicked off at 3:00. Bring on the furries!

Lotsa llamas in the parade. Also a few alpacas.

We got back to DC just in time to celebrate Emily’s birthday at the Argonaut!

Dr. Sketchy recap…

We had a great time at the Dr. Sketchy show! A picture is worth a thousand words – so here ya go! Fleshbot was there also and took video. You can check that out here.

update: Channel 11 in NYC has a really good story on Molly and the show – see it here.

I’m giving mom a print of this one for Christmas…

Curator and Dr. Sketchy Founder Molly Crabapple and myself.

Great show – lots of people all night long. Rapture is a funky little bookstore/cafe located in the East Village, an NYC neighborhood I hadn’t visited much. Thanks much to Molly for putting on a great show and party!

Happy Halloween

As you can see it was another great party at Kate and Jared’s. That’s them in front with Greg and Eva attacking poor Skipper and Gilligan. Click for larger image…

Art Whino Gallery Grand Opening

Great opening night at Art Whino. There are about 200 pieces by artists from everywhere. The next show is on November 9th. More information and art is up on their site.

Here are my pics from the opening. Sean from Paint and Plaster was there early and has good pics of the space up on his Flickr page. Dzaet also has photos up on her MySpace page.

Artists Dzaet, Morten Andersen (who came in from Denmark for the show), Anna U. Davis, and lead Art Whino Shane Pomajambo.

Derrick Wolbaum was the featured artist this month — great work. Dark, twisted, and a little painful as you can see.
