Show Updates: “Tug of War” and “Art in Heat”

The La Luz de Jesus show went very well, and I sold 7 pieces out there. It went down to the wire with 4 going the last day the show was up. Big huge thanks to Billy, Rhoda, and Annie.

One piece from that show, “In God’s Hands,” will be included in “Tug of War” at the Hemphill Gallery here in D.C. Sponsored by Billy Shire Fine Arts, that show opens March 3 and will feature some really big name national artists. Liz McGrath, Chris Mars, Tim Biskup, and Gary Baseman are just a few of the artists, and I’ll post more names soon. I’m the only local, but several of the artists will be flying in for the opening and will also be signing copies of their books. I hope that D.C. collectors take note–this is a very unique opportunity to see all these artists’ work in one gallery outside of L.A.

From a national level to a more local level. In July, Jared and I will be co-organizing “Art in Heat” at the Warehouse. This show will highlight Baltimore/Washington artists that we feel fit into that same aesthetic as “Tug of War” at the Hemphill. We’re also hoping we can get Lobsterboy to do a show as well–perhaps “Lobster in Heat?”

The opening reception is June 30, and the show will run to July 30. Capital Fringe is from July 19 to 29 down around the 7th Street area as well so it will be a busy place. More news soon.
